Around 20 percent of the Swiss population suffer from a pollen allergy. That is roughly 1.2 million people. After inhaling pollen, they show allergic symptoms such as red, itchy eyes, runny nose, the urge to sneeze and shortness of breath.
Every fourth Swiss household has a cat and every tenth a dog. Around 4 percent of adults are allergic to cat allergens, and around 3 percent to dog allergens. People with a pollen or animal allergy count on products that take their special requirements into account and improve their quality of life.
The requirements for obtaining the Allergy Seal of Quality
To be certified, technical products must keep allergens away from allergy sufferers in accordance with a specified percentage through removal (vacuuming or washing), filtration (filters) or retention. However, certified vacuum cleaners are not required to have a dust collection bag.

In order for technical products/household appliances to be certified, allergens must be kept away from allergy sufferers in accordance with a specified percentage by removing them (vacuuming, washing), filtering them (filter) or retaining them (barrier).
They are suitable for people with allergies to pollen, dust mites, mould or animals. The packaging indicates for which allergies the product is appropriate for.
